About

I’m a writer and critic in Fitzroy, Melbourne, Australia.

I’m a PhD student at the University of Melbourne, currently completing an interdisciplinary thesis on superhero stories called X-Ray Vision.

I received my Masters in Creative Writing back 2003 for Zero Zero Zero – a novella about how disappointed we all were when the world didn’t end on New Year’s Eve 1999. Here’s the first chapter.

I’m the comic book columnist for the literary site Bookslut, and the film critic for Triple J Magazine and Time Out Melbourne.

My essay Fake Politics for the Real America for Metro Magazine won the 2009 Australian Film Critics Association Award for ‘Writing on Non-Australian Film’.

Weirder still: I’ve been a regular writer for The Australian Ballet and part of the writing team of Australia’s comedy TV show Rove on Channel 10 for 2008 and 2009.

The movie of my first feature screenplay, EXIT, premiered at Montreal’s Fantasia Festival on August 4, 2011. It’s now available to rent or buy in Australia and most other English-speaking countries through iTunes, as well as Hulu and Amazon Instant in North America.

You can email me, or find me on Facebook or Twitter, if you like.
